Short courses are an economical way of getting basic TESOL training. These can range from weekend courses to courses spanning 3-10 days and courses combining online and face to face training.

If, however, your TEFL plans are longer-term, or in countries where the traditionally more internationally recognised (and usually more expensive) 4 week courses are required, such as the UK, Australia, and European countries in general, don’t despair as there are still options for you.

If your TEFL plans are longer-term, or you are hoping to work in countries where the traditionally more internationally recognized (and usually more expensive) 4 week courses are required, such as the UK, Australia, United States and European countries in general, don’t despair as there are still options for you:

1. Choose a course in a country where the cost of living is low because the prices generally reflect that. Even if the course costs a little more than you would like to pay, you will spend very little money while you are there. Flights and accommodation need also to be taken into consideration of course, but some of these courses are to be found in Sao Paolo, Budapest, Riga, Krakow, Wroclaw, Bangkok, Ho Chi Minh City
2. Choose a course in a school that can offer you reimbursement of some of your fees if you take up work with them afterwards ( Ho Chi Minh City and Bangkok), or a course where Early Bird discounts for applying more than 6-8 weeks in advance are offered (Ho Chi Minh City, Budapest, Krakow and Prague).
3. If you are looking to train in England, centers in Central London keep their prices consistently low are Greenwich, Queensway, Oxford Circus, Earls Court.

5. Spreading your payments: if you are planning to do your course in more than six months’ time it’s sometimes possible to pay off your course fees in installments, a bit like a credit card without the interest. Please note that your full course fees would need to be paid up six weeks before your course starts. All you need to do is let Cactus TESOL or the school know at the time of your course offer that you’d like to pay for your course in this way.
