This CELTA course encorporates the 'Preparing to Teach English (ESOL) in the Lifelong Learning Sector' (PTEELLS) qualification.

This will prepare trainees to teach English to Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) to adults in the Lifelong Learning Sector (LLS), formally known as Further Education (FE) colleges.

This part-time course takes place during the day on Monday and Wednesdays, 10:00-16:00.

Course Details
The Cambridge Certificate in English Language Teaching to Adults (CELTA) is an initial teacher training course which is classified as a Level 4 qualification on the UK National Qualification Framework. It is aimed at participants who have little to no previous teaching experience, and is recognised by employers around the world as one of the leading, internationally-recognised TEFL qualifications.

In line with recent changes to adult education in the UK, this course now incorporates the 'Preparing to Teach English (ESOL) in the Lifelong Learning Sector' (PTEELLS) qualification, which looks at teaching English from the ESOL teacher's point of view. This qualification forms an integral part of the subsequent 'Diploma in Teaching English (ESOL) in the Lifelong Learning Sector' (DTEELLS), now a requirement for all ESOL practitioners in the UK.

Teaching Practice is an essential part of the CELTA course and each trainee will complete a minimum of 6 hours of assessed teaching practice during the course. Trainees work in small teams under the guidance of a highly-qualified tutor and are expected to collaborate in groups when teaching classes. When not teaching, each trainee is expected to observe their fellow trainees and discuss lessons with the group and tutor afterwards. Trainees must also complete eight hours observing their peers and experienced teachers in action and write full reports on observed lessons.

Entry Requirements
2 'A' Levels or a university degree or equivalent.
Non-native speakers must have a fluent level of English or the Cambridge CPE qualification or equivalent.
