CELTA

Still the most popular TEFL course available, the Cambridge CELTA (Certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) is perhaps the most globally sought-after EFL qualification amongst prospective employers. Rigorously monitored and maintained by Cambridge English, the CELTA name provides a quality-guarantee, and the programme provides an excellent springboard into the world of Teaching English as a Foreign Language. Trinity

The Trinity CertTESOL (Certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) is the closest rival to the Cambridge CELTA course, and it is rapidly increasing popularity with trainees and employers is not to be underestimated. Very similar in structure to the CELTA, this programme also provides trainees with 6 hours of teaching practice, alongside input sessions covering language awareness and teaching methodology. In addition to the centres offering Cambridge CELTA and Trinity CertTESOL programmes worldwide, there are many other quality course providers offering excellent TESOL courses for trainee teachers. These courses may not carry the highly sought-after accreditations from Cambridge or Trinity, but they are still high quality courses, also providing 120 hours of input and 6 hours of teaching practice, and are ideally suited to trainees looking to study and teach for a prolonged period in a specific destination. Part-Time

Do you want to take an intensive TEFL course, but simply don't have the time or availability to take four weeks away from work? If this sounds like you, then a part-time CELTA or Trinity CertTESOL could be the best option for you. Many providers offer programmes identical to the 4-week intensive programme, but spread over 12, 13 or 16 weeks (depending on location).
