Our four week CELTA course has an additional 3 day language awareness phase which includes 6 hours of experienced teacher observations. This happens before you are assessed teaching to build your confidence and show you exactly what is expected. The teaching practice phase is 4 weeks and training is delivered through highly practical workshops. The course includes input sessions tailored to trainees’ needs as well as extensive guided lesson planning with the course tutors.
We have developed a brand new ‘unplugged’ CELTA course. Our innovative model differs from a regular course in the following key ways:
LA phase: 3 days pre-course which focus on upgrading candidates’ language awareness as well as 6 hours of live demonstration lessons taught by the tutors
Negotiated syllabus: training sessions crafted in response to candidates’ emerging needs as the course progresses (rather than a pre scheduled timetable)
Guided lesson planning: 50% more tutor contact with a focus on coaching trainees to research and analyse language
Apprenticeship scheme: team teaching with the tutors in the earlier phases to build confidence
The next course is 19 November to 19 December 2012
Fees: USD 2000
The range of accommodation options include: self catering in a shared apartment with an existing British Council Burma teacher, a bed and breakfast guest house or a room at the British Club on a bed and breakfast basis.

We give high quality mentoring and support for their post-CELTA teaching while they develop and consolidate the skills required to take on the full duties of a teacher. On successful completion, they will move up to a full-time contract equivalent to other standard British Council teachers, with additional support if needed, for a further 12 months.
