I was a middle/ high school teacher
in the USA, and I was getting bored with the same type
of person and in the same classroom day in and day out,
so I decided it was time to give my career a change while
still doing what I loved (teaching) and opted to travel
and teach. Read about the course Edward did.
I have
nothing but praise for the course I attended at Barcelona
House. It was very well organised, right from the outset.
The course was condensed and the pace constant but all
teachers worked alongside students to enable the best
outcomes. The course content and delivery was of a high
standard and most relevant, as teaching post-course has
proved. Read about the course Vivienne did.
Up until
the course I had worked in an office environment, which
was rewarding in some ways, but I finally reached a point
where I wanted to try something different, learn new skills
and travel more widely. After much soul searching, TEFL
seemed to be the way forward. Doing the course in Sydney
was ideal - I have a friend based in Bondi who I wanted
to visit and I also wanted to see some more of Australia.
I was therefore able to combine getting qualified with
a bit of an adventure to set the tone for my new life!!
I rented out my flat, sold my car and took off on 11 April.
I haven't looked back since! Read about the course Susan did.
I am a secondary school teacher looking for a change. The CELTA course in Brisbane, Australia was recommended to me by the university I approached to teach ESL. I found the course to be very well- structured and presented by a talented and dedicated team of instructors. The practical nature of the course and the attention to grammar leads me to suggest it would be well-placed as an inclusion in any Bachelor of Education Degree. Read about the course Judy did.
I am in
Hungary teaching English. I finished the CELTA course
in August here in Budapest at International House and
by the second half of September I started work. I cannot
take on any more students I am fully booked! I have various
classes to give the range is from a 6 year old boy to
a group of bankers who need business English.
It is still rather scary but I am getting the much needed
teaching experience. Read about the course Agnes did.
I took my course
at Inlingua Cheltenham because it was local
(ish) to where I live.
It was a very good course: I was warned that it would
be HARD WORK, and it was, but no pain, no gain.
I took the course 1) to enable me to supplement part-time
FE teachers' earnings (although now, miraculaously, I
am full-time) 2) to supplement pension when I move to
soemwhere HOT on retirement (8 or so years away). Read about the course Michelle did.
I thoroughly
enjoyed the CELTA course in Milan. The teachers are all
highly experienced with a very sound knowledge of the
CELTA teaching method and are also very easy to get along
with. The facilities at teachertraining.it are excellent
and easily accessible from either of the Main Train stations
in Milan.
The structure of the course is well organized with very
effective use of time. Although the workload is intense
you are led through it well and given all the correct
tools to do the job. I had absolutely no trouble finding
a job in the Milan area after completing the CELTA course.
I would recommend this course as a great experience and
a good investment. Read about the course Joanna did.
There
was a lot of help and support from the
trainers. We had an hour every morning to ask last minute
questions before teaching and time after school if we
needed to ask further questions. We also had a session
every week with our tutor in which we could ask about
our lesson or anything more general. Read about the course Fiona did.
About
the course: do it somewhere where there are no distractions.
It's hectic enough as it is, you don't want a gloomy day
and a friend at a loose end disturbing you, there was
plenty of time for that after the course. Do it abroad. Read about the course Sam did.
'I wanted to take a moment to thank
you for your time and opinion this morning. As is likely
true for many of us exploring the possibility of ELT as
a profession, gap or otherwise, finding folks who have
expertise and ideas about how to accomplish that goal
is of golden importance. Being nearly 40, (39 to be precise)
I havent much lifetime left to make strategic career
mistakes so your help is truly appreciated.'
"I first came across Cactus as a result of a Google
search on TEFL courses. Your article came up amongst the
top 10 results. Brilliant, thank you for it. Then I phoned
Cactus and got through to Sarah. What a star she is! Helpful,
polite, knew her stuff, eloquent and masses of common
sense. I wanted to give you this feedback to that you
could pass it onto her. What an asset for you she is."
